This is what I saw in the City Civil Court, Bangalore, yesterday:
First some media persons were holding tube-lights and waiting to beat advocates. Then there was fight between a group of media persons and a group of lawyers. Then police came and said lawyers should go inside the court and press should be outside.
Then the police joined with the press and pelted stones at advocates. One advocate fell due to the stone pelting by the press and when other advocates tried helping him, police started beating the advocates. Advocates were told that 3 advocates are dead and taken in 4 ambulances.
At the same time Kannada Media Channels were showing only police and media person are affected. In the mean time advocates and judges were locked inside the premises by the police and the police started firing, beating advocates and calling advocates saying “come, we will teach you a lesson today”. Then police threw stones from outside the court and the windows broke and an advocate arguing in court-hall 1 was hit by a stone either thrown by the press or the police.
I saw the Kannada news channels that were blaming the advocates and not even allowing the advocates to take part in the discussion by saying that you should not take law into your hands and you should only use your mouth to argue.
May be all three (advocates, police, media) are wrong, I do not know, but I have these questions:
- Was this incident pre-planned and executed by the media and the police to tarnish the image of advocates and show them as despicable, uncivilized and barbaric, to the general public? Why only show advocates in such a bad light?
- Was there collusion between the media and the police?
- Are advocates such a vulnerable community?
- Are the advocates wrong or are they only shown in bad light?
- Why was media publishing provocative speeches and discussions against advocates only and not showing any of the incidents committed by its people and the police?
In the meantime some media persons were successful in getting the legal experts like Santhosh Hegde and some other senior advocates’ opinion on this in order to downgrade the legal profession.
Further, in the late night, a Bowring Hospital doctor says on TV that approximately 30 persons were admitted to the hospital. 7-8 are policemen; 5-6 are press persons and the rest are advocates. That means 15-16 injured persons were advocates! All violence should be condemned very strongly. All injured persons may have families who may be going through a terrible pain right now. My prayers are with them.
I feel Kannada Channels are selectively showing only one-sided reports. No channel is showing how these advocates got injured. There is more to this unfortunate incident than it meets the eye. Who will show the truth about how the advocates including judges got injured and how this incident started? How is this incident connected with Mr Janardhana Reddy’s appearance in court? There should be a judicial enquiry on this incident. Meantime, let all the parties show restraint. Let the truth come out!
One more thing I would like to mention here. Hon’ble judges Mr. Shreedhar Rao, Mr. K.L.Manjunath, Mr. Govindarajulu, Mr. Nagamohandas et al, personally came and took the risk of pacifying the enraged amid such an explosive situation and even they were shocked when they saw one of the judge was hurt and had sustained injuries. They virtually prayed for peace, despite, police autrociously vandalized.

ರವಿ, ಇದೊಂದು ಅಪ್ಪಟ ಸುಳ್ಳಿನ ಕಂತೆ. ನಿನ್ನೆ ಇಡೀ ದಿನದ ಘಟನೆ ಗಮನಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ಒಬ್ಬ ವಕೀಲ ತಾವು ಮಾಡಿದ ಕೃತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಷಾದ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಪ್ರಾರಂಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರು ಟ್ಯೂಬ್ ಲೈಟ್ ಹಿಡಿದು ನಿಂತಿದ್ದರು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಯಾವುದಾದರೂ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳ ಸಮೇತ ಸಾಬೀತು ಪಡಿಸಿದರೆ, ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಈ ವೃತ್ತಿಗೆ ತಿಲಾಂಜಲಿ ನೀಡಲು ಸಿದ್ಧನಿದ್ದೇನೆ, ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಪ್ರಶಾಂತ್ ತಮ್ಮ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಬಿಡಲು ಸಿದ್ಧರಿದ್ದಾರಾ? ಸುಳ್ಳು ಹೇಳಲು ಒಂದು ಮಿತಿ ಇರಬೇಕು. ಇದನ್ನು ಒದುತಿದ್ದರೆ, ನನಗೆ ನಾಚಿಕೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯದ ಮೂರನೇ ಮಹಡಿಗೆ ಜಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳು ಹೇಗೆ ಹೋದವು ಎಂಬುದಕ್ಕೆ ಇವರು ಉತ್ತರಿಸಬೇಕು.
ಸನ್ಮಾನ್ಯ ಜಗದೀಶ್ ಕೊಪ್ಪ ರವರೆ , ನೀವೇ ಹೇಳುವಂತೆ ೩೦ ವರ್ಷದಿಂದ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿರುವ ನಿಮಗೆ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದ ಒಳಗಿನ ನೋಟ ಇದ್ದೆ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ .ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಇಷ್ಟು ವ್ಯಗ್ರ ರಾಗುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ ಚಿತ್ರ ವಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದ ಮಾತ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು ಸುಳ್ಳು ಅಂತ ಅಲ್ಲ .ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆ tone and tenor of the media for the past decade is such that it is humiliating to be a media person .I am sorry ಟು ಸೆ ದಿಸ್ I am also observing media since 25 years . ಒಳಗಿರುವ ನಿಮಗೆ ಇನ್ನೂ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಗೊತ್ತಿದೆ .ಎದೆ ಮುತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೇಳಿ ನಾನು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು ಸುಳ್ಳ ?.ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಮುಂಬರುವ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ನೈತಿಕ ಕುಸಿತಕ್ಕೆ ಈದಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎ೦ಬ ಭರವಸೆ ನಿಮಗಿದೆಯೇ ? ಅಂದ ಹಾಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ವೈಯುಕ್ತಿಕ ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕತೆಯನ್ನು ನಾನು ಶಂಕಿಸುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ .ನಿಮ್ಮ ವೃತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ದಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಬಿಡಬೇಡಿ ನಮಸ್ಕಾರ .
ಪ್ರಿಯ ಗುಹೇಶ್ವರ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯೆಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳು. ಇವತ್ತು ಕನ್ನಡ ಛಾನಲ್ ಗಳ ಕುರಿತು ಮತ್ತು ಅವುಗಳ ಸುದ್ಧಿ ವೈಖರಿಯನ್ನು ಅತಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಟೀಕೆ ಮಾಡಿರುವವರಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನೆ ಮೊದಲಿಗ. ಅದೂ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದ ಜವಬ್ದಾರಿ ಹುದ್ದೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದುಕೊಂಡು ಈ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ.12 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾದಾಗ ಸೇರಿದವನು. ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರು ಟ್ಯೂಬ್ ಲೈಟ್ ಹಿಡಿದು ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯದ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದರು ಎಂಬುವುದು ನಂಬುವ ಮಾತೆ? ನಾನು ವರದಿಗಾರರನ್ನು ನಂಬುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಆದರೆ, 100ರಷ್ಟು ಕ್ಯಾಮರಾಮೆನ್ಗಳನ್ನು ನಂಬುತ್ತೀನಿ. ದೃಶ್ಯ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಅಷ್ಟು ವರದಿಗಾರರ, ಕ್ಯಾಮರಾಮೆನ್ ಚಿತ್ರ ಒದಗಿಸಿಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಟ್ಯೂಬ್ ಲೈಟ್ ಹಿಡಿದು ನಿಂತಿರುವುದನ್ನ ತೋರಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವೆ? ಬಹುಷ ಕ್ಯಾಮರಾ ಅಸಿಸ್ಟೆಂಟ್ ಗಳು ಕ್ಯಾಮರಾ ಸ್ಟ್ಯಾಂಡ್ ಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ನಿಂತಿರಬೇಕು. ಆದಿನ ವಕೀಲರ ಬಗ್ಗೆಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಬಳಸಿದ ಭಾಷೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಕೂಡ ನನ್ನ ಅಸಮಧಾನವಿದೆ.
ಈ ಲೇಖನದ ಜೊತೆ ಇರುವ ವಿಡಿಯೋದಲ್ಲಿ ಏನೂ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟವಾಗಿ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ, ಬರೀ ಹೊಡೆಯುವ ಸದ್ದು ಮಾತ್ರ ಕೇಳುತ್ತದೆ. ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದ ಮಂದಿ ಗೂಂಡಾಗಿರಿಗೆ ಇಳಿದಿರುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆ ಇಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ಇದು ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದ ಮಂದಿಯಿಂದ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಿರುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ. ವಕೀಲರಿಗೂ ಏಟು ಬಿದ್ದಿದೆ ಎಂದಾದರೆ ಅದು ಹಿಂಸೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಿರತರಾದ ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ನಿಯಂತ್ರಿಸಲು ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಲಾಠಿಚಾರ್ಜ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದಲೂ ಇರಬಹುದು ಅಥವಾ ವಕೀಲರ ಗುಂಪುಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ನಡೆದ ಹಿಂಸೆಯಿಂದಲೂ ಇರಬಹುದು. ವಕೀಲರೆ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧೀಶರ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಲ್ಲೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ವರದಿ ‘ಒನ್ ಇಂಡಿಯಾ’ ವೆಬ್ ಸೈಟಿನಲ್ಲಿದೆ (http://kannada.oneindia.in/news/2012/03/03/districts-bng-advocates-attack-judge-n-budihal-mar2-aid0135.html).
ವಕೀಲರು ಈ ಹಿಂದೆ ಮೈಸೂರ್ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್ ವೃತ್ತದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಡಿದ ಗೂಂಡಾಗಿರಿ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಈ ರಾದ್ಧಾಂತ ವಕೀಲರಿಂದಲೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗಿರುವಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ. ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದ ಮಂದಿಗೆ ವಕೀಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಪೂರ್ವ ದ್ವೇಷ ಇದೆ ಎನಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಮತ್ತು ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದ ಮಂದಿ ಈ ಪಾಟಿ ಗೂಂಡಾಗಿರಿಗೆ ಇಳಿದ ಉದಾಹರಣೆ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಗಳ ಬಳಿ ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ದೃಶ್ಯಾವಳಿ ಇರುವಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅವಲೋಕಿಸಿದರೆ ಸತ್ಯ ಹೊರಬರಬಹುದು.
ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಗಳ ವಿಮರ್ಶೆಗೆ ಬೇರೆ ವೇದಿಕೆ ಆದರೆ ಸೂಕ್ತ. ಅದು ತುರ್ತಾಗಿ ಆಗಬೇಕಾದ ಕೆಲಸ ಕೂಡಾ. ನಿನ್ನೆ ನೆಡೆದ ಘಟನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪತ್ರಕರ್ತರ ತಪ್ಪು ಇದೆ ಎಂದು ಅನ್ನಿಸುತ್ತಿಲ್ಲ.ಘಟನೆಯ ಕುರಿತು ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸುವಾಗ ಸಚಿವ ಅಶೋಕ್ ರವರು ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮಗಳ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ಎಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೆ ಇರಬೇಕು? ಎಷ್ಟು ಇರಬೇಕು? ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನೀತಿಯೊಂದನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸುವ ಇಂಗಿತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ವಿಧಾನ ಸೌಧದ ಕಲಾಪಗಳ ನೇರಪ್ರಸಾರಕ್ಕೆ ನಿರ್ಬಂಧ ಹೇರಿದ ನಂತರ ಈ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಲಯಕ್ಕೂ ನಿರ್ಬಂಧ ಹೇರುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ…. ಹೇಗಿದೆ ವರಸೆ?
i was present near at court hall no 1 when it started at 12pm a small quarrel between media reporters and few advocates but it turned violent when stones used by both, who have done wrong they need to be punished to secure safety and i have seen tube lights in the hands of media people which was taken by police and after the janardhana reddy left the court the media people still present outside the court and exchanging the words with advocates.

Media persons were also seen manhandling advocates with the active support of the police… advocates are made scapegotes by the police n media…..LONG LIVE MEDIA

ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಕಾರಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಲ್ಲು ಬಿಸಾಡಿದ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಇಂಥ ದೃಶ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದವರು ತೋರಿಸಿಲ್ಲ. ಟಿವಿ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದವರು ಏಕಮುಖ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದ್ದು ನಿಜವೆಂದು ಕಾಣುತ್ತದೆ. ಜನತೆ ಟಿವಿ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದದ್ದನ್ನು ನಂಬುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಸಹಜವಾಗಿಯೇ ಜನರಿಗೆ ವಕೀಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಕ್ರೋಶ ಮೂಡಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಕಾನೂನು ಪಾಲಕರಾಗಿರುವ ಪೊಲೀಸರೇ ಗೂಂಡಾಗಿರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿದ್ದು ಕೂಡ ಖಂಡನಾರ್ಹ. ಇಂಥ ಪೋಲೀಸರ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೂಡ ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ.
ಪ್ರಿಯ ಜಗದೀಶ್ ಕೊಪ್ಪ ಅವರೇ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಉತ್ತರ ಕೊಡಲು ನಾನು ಸಿದ್ದ… ಆದರೆ ಇದನ್ನು ಸುಳ್ಳಿನ ಕಂತೆ ಎಂದು ನಿರ್ಧಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಬರಲು ತಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಸಮರ್ಥನೆ ಇದೆ? ನೀವು ದೃಷ್ಯ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದವರನ್ನು ನಂಬುವುದಾದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ದೃಷ್ಯ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದವರಿಗೆ ಸಿಗದ ದೃಷ್ಯಗಳು ಇತರರ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎಕೆ ಕಂಡುಬಂದಿತು? ನಿಮಗೆ ವಕೀಲರನ್ನು ಹಿಂಸಿಸುವ ದೃಷ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಹಿಡಿಯಲು ಹಿಡಿಯಲು ಮನಸಿಲ್ಲವಾದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ವಿಶಾಲಾ ಮನಸ್ಸಿನ ಪ್ರೌವೃತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ನಾವು ಗೌರವಿಸಬೇಕೆ? ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ನಮ್ಮ ವಕೀಲ ಬಾಂದವರಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದವರಿಗೆ ಯಾವುದೇ ತೊಂದರೆ ಆಗಿದ್ದರೆ ನಾನು ಬೇಷರತ್ತಾಗಿ ಕ್ಷಮೆಯಾಚಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆದರೆ ಇದನ್ನು ನೀವು (ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದವರು) ಮಾಡಬಲ್ಲಿರ….. ಸಮಾಜದ ಒಂದು ಸಮುದಾಯವನ್ನು ತಮ್ಮ ಸ್ವಹಿತಾಸಕ್ತಿಗೆ ಬಳಸಿ ಅಪ್ರಚಾರದ ಅಬ್ಬರದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳುಗಿದ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದ ಕೃತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮರ್ಥನೆ ನೀಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಮಗೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಲೂ ಆಸಕ್ತಿ ಇದ್ದರೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾದ್ಯಮದವರು ಮಾಡಿದ ತಪ್ಪನ್ನು ನೀವು ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೀರಾ????? ವೃತ್ತಿಧರ್ಮ ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಒಂದೇ.
